Dracast Silkray 400 Bi-Color LED Panel Light Overview
The Silkray 400 Bi-Color LED Panel Light from Dracast is a 11.8 x 8.3 x 0.6″ aluminum-framed fixture that weighs 3 lb and features variable 3200-5600K color temperature to match other fixtures, ambient light conditions or just to light creatively without resorting to filters. Brightness is also adjustable from 0-100% and both settings are displayed on the panel’s digital readout. The Silkray’s 168 LEDs have a high CRI of 96+ for color accuracy, and they draw only 40W while outputting many times that number in tungsten fixture equivalence for a rapid return on your investment. Running barely warm to the touch, you can bring the light very close to the talent without discomfort and danger, and, at only a little over 1/2″ thick, it can be placed in tight situations where legacy fixtures just can’t go.
The Silkray 400 ships with a 100-240 VAC power adapter for worldwide use, but it can also run on 2 NP-F type batteries thanks to the battery plate on the back of the fixture. A carry bag is also included.

David –
I picked up one of the 400-series silkray lights to test in our studio. I do primarily interview and commercial work for web and social. I was impressed with the performance-to-size rate for the Dracast. The silkray performed as well or better than my typical studio lights (Aputure 672’s), and with much less fuss. The silkray did not need a diffuser or softbox, which makes it a great travel light, and the color rendition was also quite good.
The only issue that I’ve experienced was that mine came with the battery pins a little bent, though once corrected I have not had any issues, even after attaching and detaching the batteries several times. The included power cable was plenty long (much appreciated) and the yoke system is rock solid.
If you are looking at a compact key light for interviews or basic scene lighting, I would certainly recommend these.
